The commune of Villa Collemandina extends 34.81 square km. and has a population of 1391 inhabitants. It has an excellent geographical position and moderate climate thanks to the protection from the cold north winds by the formation of the Apennine ridge.
Made up of seven fractions placed among 550 and 1600 m.s.l.m., the municipality of Villa Collemandina is immersed in the green chestnut trees and meadows and gathered around the mass of the Pania di Corfino. Each village is an oasis of tranquillity, the surroundings are among the most varied and suggestive: in the front, the chain of the Apuan Alps of precious marble, below, the Serchio River valley and its cultivated terraces, to the back, the Pania and the Apennines.
The variety of local flora and fauna, the easy excursion trails, the characteristic villages, are an appealing attraction to many tourists, who find courtesy and hospitality in the modern hotel structures and private homes.

Initially on the hill, there was the master's castle; afterwards on the ruins of the edifice, arose the area occupied by the present church and the beautiful ornate cloister of sixteen small columns made of sandstone that until the last century also served as a cemetary. Inside the parochial church there are two marble altars, both works of Nicola Civitali dated 1533 and a wooden triptych of valuable workmanship recently restored.

Il Comune di Villa Collemandina ha un'estensione di 34,81 Kmq ed una popolazione di 1391 abatanti.
Ha un'ottima posizione geografica ed un clima temperato grazie alla protezione dal freddi venti del nord costituita dai crinali appenninici.
E'composto da sette frazioni: Corfino, Canigiano, Magnano, Pianacci, Massa Sassorosso, Sassorosso, poste tra i 550 ed i 1600 m.s.l.m, raccolte intorno al massiccio della Pania di Corfino ed immerse nel verde dei castagneti e dei prati. Ogni paese e un'oasi di tranquillita, l'ambiente e dei piu vari e suggestivi: di fronte la catena delle Alpi Apuane dal pregiati marmi, sotto la valle del flume Serchio ed i suoi terrazzamenti coltivati, alle spalle la Pania e gli Appennini.
La varieta della flora e della fauna locale, gli agevoli sentieri escursionistici, i caratteristici borghi, sono un forte richiamo per molto turisti che trovano cortesia ed ospitalita nelle moderne strutture alberghiere e nelle abitazioni private.
Inizialmente sul colle vi era il castelo del padrone; in seguito, sulle rovine dell'edificio sorse l'area occupata dall'attuale chiesa e dal bel chiostro ornato da sedici colonnine di pietra arenaria che, fino al secolo scorso, servi anche da cimitero. All'interno della chiesa parrocchiale si trovano due altari di marmo, opere di Nicola Civitali datate 1533 ed un trittico ligneo di pregevole fattura, recentemente ristrutturato.
